PicoSure laser for tattoo removal in Jupiter, FL Area
Tattoos are more common than ever. While a large portion of people love their tattoos, it still leaves some people with tattoo regret. So, what are you to do when you have tattoo regret? The answer is, to research tattoo removal procedures.

A quick search will reveal that there are dozens of options for erasing the appearance of tattoos, from creams and cover-ups to laser tattoo removal. A little digging will show that laser tattoo removal is by far the most popular and effective method for eliminating that unwanted ink. But, are all lasers created equal?

At a Center for Dermatology, Cosmetic & Laser Surgery in Jupiter, FL, we offer PicoSure tattoo removal. The PicoSure technology is the most advanced laser treatment available for the effective removal of unwanted tattoo pigment. With PicoSure, we can target ink more precisely than ever, and are even able to tackle the hard to remove inks such as green and blue. PicoSure offers patients improved results with fewer treatments, faster recovery, and clearer skin.

The PicoSure Difference

Traditional Q-switched lasers (once the gold standard for tattoo removal) emits energy at a rate of one nanosecond or a billionth of a second. While that seems like a very short amount of time, significant heat can still be generated which can cause a burn while removing unwanted tattoo pigments. PicoSure tattoo removal delivers energy within 1 picosecond. This highly focused laser triggers a fast, photomechanical effect to remove the pigment more effectively.

When the PicoSure treatment delivers the laser energy to the tattoo, the ink is broken down into tiny particles that are much smaller than the particles achieved with Q-Switch lasers. These particles are then absorbed and eliminated by the body more easily than with the Q-Switch. With PicoSure treatments, individuals can experience fewer treatments than Q-switched laser.

How it works

Like other laser or skin resurfacing procedures, PicoSure tattoo removal will require multiple sessions for optimal results. Each treatment is typically done in about fifteen minutes and the exact number of sessions is determined by the size, color, age, and location of your tattoo. In most cases, tattoos are completely removed within two to six treatments. Traditional laser treatments often require six to twelve laser sessions.

Preparing for PicoSure treatment

Patients should avoid sun exposure for several days prior to laser tattoo removal. Strenuous physical activity should be avoided for 1-2 days after treatment to prevent irritating or damaging the skin. Prolonged sun exposure should be avoided until the area has completely healed.

FAQ about PicoSure Laser treatments:

Q: Can all types of tattoos be removed?

A: Yes, the PicoSure can remove all types of tattoos, both new and old. Older tattoos tend to lighten up faster due to natural fading. PicoSure is even effective on removing blue and green pigments, which have often been difficult with other laser treatments.

Q: How quickly will I see results with PicoSure treatments?

A: Every tattoo responds differently to PicoSure, depending on the age, location, colors, and size of the tattoo. Individuals with older tattoos may start to see results after just one treatment. More recent tattoos will need several sessions before the ink dramatically lightens.

Q: How much time do I have to wait between sessions?

A: PicoSure laser treatments should be scheduled at least six weeks apart to allow the skin to heal and to give the body enough time to absorb and eliminate the ink. Scheduling sessions before the skin has had enough time to heal can increase the potential for scarring.

Q: What are the side effects of PicoSure

A: The treatment only causes minor discomfort, like the sensation of a rubber band snapping the skin. We can use a numbing cream prior to treatment to make the procedure more comfortable.
