Restylane/Perlane

You may have heard of dermal fillers. You might have noticed that a friend’s smile looks more full and sexy than you remembered. Maybe you’ve wondered what Restylane or Perlane could do for you. Now is the time to find out!

Restylane is a safe and natural hyaluronic acid formulated without animal compounds. It is FDA approved for cosmetic use – to supplement facial tissues; smooth contours around the mouth, nose, and cheeks. Restylane is also used for lip augmentation.

Perlane is a similar filler, safe and non-allergenic as it is also a natural, non-animal substance.

Hyaluronic acid is found in skin, connective, and other tissues in our bodies. Some people naturally have more of it, such as fuller lips. As we age, our body’s natural stores of hyaluronic acid become depleted. Our lips thin and we get wrinkles.

Restylane and Perlane do not numb facial muscles like Botox. They simply plump up the tissues, to fill in wrinkles, make folds less noticeable, and supplement lips. Restylane and Perlane can be used in conjunction with Botox treatments.

The compound is produced as a clear gel. The gel is injected below the surface of the skin. Not only does the hyaluronic acid itself provide additional volume, it also binds to water molecules, keeping them in the facial tissue. The results are immediate – a natural look, never frozen or pulled. This is usually achieved with the first treatment.

These compounds are biodegradable. So the results, while long-lasting, are not permanent. You may want another treatment in six months to a year to keep looking great.

Side effects are not frequent, but can include temporary redness, swelling, or bruising. We’ll discuss your individual risks at your consultation.

Facial rejuvenation can be more than a fantasy. The professionally trained staff at A Center for Dermatology, Cosmetic and Laser Surgery can make it a reality for you, with the safest, most convenient methods available today.
