Sculptra
Your skin contains collagen which keeps it looking smooth and young. When your body’s production of collagen decreases over time you start to notice wrinkles, folds, and sunken areas. Supplementing lost collagen restores a more youthful look to cheeks, temples, chin, and around the eyes and mouth.
Sculptra is a dermal filler approved by the FDA for cosmetic facial treatment. It is made from poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic compound that is biocompatible; the body accepts it readily with little chance of allergic reaction or rejection.
Sculptra is different than Botox (which freezes the facial muscles) or other dermal fillers. Sculptra results are subtle and natural-looking, occurring over time.
Talk with
Dr. Vitulli and the staff at
A Center for Dermatology, Cosmetic and Laser Surgery. If Sculptra is right for you, you’ll receive a series of injections – typically three – over the course of a few months. These injections go below the dermis, reinforcing the collagen and shoring up the natural foundation of your facial features.
It’s been called the “liquid facelift” because of its dramatic, refining effect, even on deep folds and wrinkles. But since the results are gradual, your friends will only notice that you look refreshed and terrific, without an abrupt change.
While Sculptra is long-lasting (about two years!), it is biodegradable – the body eventually absorbs it. You will want to schedule follow-up treatments to maintain the benefits.
You could have some minor irritation at the injection site – bruising, redness, swelling, or itching. Don’t worry, that’s normal and will resolve itself in a few days. A simple massage of the treated area each day for a week or so will minimize your risk of side effects such as nodules under the skin. We’ll talk with you at consultation about other possible risks, based on your health and medications.
Subtle is stunning! A rejuvenated, fresh face can be yours.
